Eight small hydroelectric power plants were built in Tajikistan in the first quarter of this year, the head of the directorate for energy policies in the Tajik Ministry of Energy and Industry, Nurmahmad Kholnazarov, has told Avesta.

The small power plants were mainly constructed in mountainous and remote districts of the country: Zafarobod, Ayni, Vakhsh, Vahdat and other districts, he said.

"Their largest one with a [daily] capacity of 50 kWh, Nurofar-2, was built in Vahdat District. Its annual capacity is 108,000 kWh," Kholnazarov added.
