The staff of the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology, Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan forecasted water volume, covering the period from 2006 to 2032, of two largest rivers in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - Naryn and Vakhsh, where cascade hydropower Nurek and Toktogul hydroelectric power stations were constructed, reports NA REGNUM News.

Tajik scientists found that the average annual runoff of the rivers will decrease continuously by this period. ęThe coincidence of cyclical fluctuations in water content of Vakhsh with the changes of climatic parameters on the average for Tajikistan has been established. Medium and short-term volatility forecasts for specific river basins are necessary for reliable planning of irrigation and hydropower, "- stated the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology, Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.
